SIERRA LEONE - West Africa

Map of Sierra Leone

Education is one of the most important ingredients of a healthy society and investing in education through development work is a guaranteed sustainable approach for a better future.

When the Civil War in Sierra Leone ended in 2001, many schools were destroyed and 67% of all school-aged children were unable to go to school. Since then the situation has improved considerably, although it is far from being perfect.

Sierra Leone is a country that has seen many international aid organizations during and after the Civil War. Although their contribution to the (re-)development of the country is viewed as very positive, we feel that it is of uttermost importance that Sierra Leoneans themselves find the means and get the opportunities to rebuild their country.
